Vamp1 – verb (vamp something up) informal

ORIGIN – first referring to the foot of a stocking: from Old French avant ‘before’+ pie ‘foot’

A woman who uses her sexual attractiveness to seduce and control men

Verb – blatantly set out to attract a man.

ORIGIN – short for vampire
