Comments:
How exactly is "best" defined? Are opinions based on personal tastes really worth printing in a newspaper? Another thing, why does most Irish music have to be so bland. I had great hopes for Jape's album (silly me for judging it from the cover). It turned out to be absolute muck.

Hada To Hada are an Irish band that need more attention (In my personal-tasted opinion).

Hmmmm... this comment reads like it's an attack on this post, but it wasn't mean't that way :)

True, this 'best' list is based upon the opinions of four music journalists. Most people will have different views on which are the best Irish music acts at the moment. I haven't heard of Hada To Hada, so I'll have to keep an ear out for them.

Believe it or not I was shocked when I couldn't find "Keane" on that list... I'll just let that one sink in shall I :)

Hada To Hada are mega low-key. As far as I know they're still playing though but you won't find much on them, not even on the internet.

There is a video on youtube though, "Pike". You'll either love it or hate it.

Traditional Irish music has various styles, but the main characteristic of Irish music is its lyrical, soothing sound. Traditional Irish music is firmly rooted in Ireland even today, because music is and always has been such an important part of Irish culture.
